History of Grace
Presbyterian Church
June 6, 1973: A small group of believers form and meet in a group
member's home. They call themselves "The Continuing
Presbyterian Church."
November 4, 1973: The official organization of "Grace
Presbyterian Church" is founded. Elders of the church filled
the pulpit while the congregation searches for a pastor. The
members meet in an old school house of Mountain View Baptist Church.
January 1974: Edwin E. Cunningham is nominated, and elected
as the first pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church.
November 1976: A search for a new meeting location begins.
January 1979: The church becomes incorporated as "Grace
Presbyterian Inc."
April 29, 1979: After the morning worship service there is a
picnic lunch and ground breaking ceremony on the new Rowland Road
property
October 14, 1979: The first service is held in the new building,
and the building is dedicated at the evening service.
January 1980: Rev Cunningham resigns. The church
continues all programs and services.
May 31, 1981: After a long search, the church installs Rev.
DeBardeleben as the new pastor.
May 1983: The church calls for research into the expansion
of Grace's facilities.
October 1985: Larger parking area added to accommodate
church growth.
August 11, 1991: Rev. DeBardeleben resigns, have been called to
pastor a church in Pensacola, Florida. Rev. Charles Dunahoo
appointed as Moderator-Pro-Tem until a new pastor is found.
January 10, 1993: Rev Robert Jackson was nominated and elected as
the new Pastor of Grace.
December 1998: After a few years of planning and building,
the new Gradon building is dedicated.
